One way back design: WHO CARES
Now I imagine it’s more of a magic thing than a cardistry thing. But sometimes I’ve seen people make a big point about whether or not a playing card’s back design is one way or not.
“Woah! ______ cards are actually one way!”
Who gives a rat’s ass?
Now I’m not talking about the explicit one way like Squeezers, but cards that have a subtle one way design that you only see on close inspection. Generally, decks like Squeezers aren’t good for cardistry because, unless you keep them in the same orientation, any spread won’t look that hot. But the subtle designs have no impact on cardistry whatsoever.
What I also don’t get is why people make such a big deal about this for magic either. Granted I only do a handful of magic tricks, but I’ve only ever had one trick that used a one way back design and it really wasn’t that spectacular.
I wish people would stop making it out as if one way back designs were such a big deal. Or, explain to me why it’s so important.
