When will I snap?
Maybe I’ve been a bit too easy on people on Decknique. There are two hands full of people I am rather fed up with. Any bet on when I will snap? I loaded on more infractions/warnings than ever today, and things are noticeably getting a bit out of hand for a cardistry forum.
Sure, you can still have your own opinion on things. But there’s such thing as making worthless posts, trolling, and just posting to insult or jab into people. What happened to a little respect?
In an ironic twist of fate, I see DN turning into some similar things HL prominently exhibited a couple years back (maybe I feel for De’?). Members who would go to other forums (now theory11) bashing people (newcomers who are necessary to grow the art) because they are new and haven’t learned as much as other people. We even have our own members jabbing at each other. It has to stop.
Amusingly, they are shocked and outraged when they receive infractions or their posts are deleted. Yes, we might have been a bit lax beforehand. But seriously, let’s keep the discussions relevant and meaningful. Let’s stop the childish bashing (though many of you are young).
Decknique was not created to be simply another Internet forum. Off Topic and things like that are nice to have to get more friendship with the other members… but it’s not here to post obscenely large dumb pictures instead of trying to move a thread usefully forward.
And then you have others who complain about meaningless threads when they never start a meaningful thread of their own.
This month, Decknique has seen a huge burst in posts. We had record number of daily posts several times this month. Thankfully the mods and I have a better way of viewing all the recent posts which makes it even possible to decently check the posts and gives us a better chance of not missing things. That’s another reason why warnings/infractions are up.
I don’t like giving warnings/infractions. I wish things would just work out well without my intervention. But it has to be done. Keep in mind, we try to be as fair as possible and definitely hear you out when you have something to say.
Enough of a rant maybe, aye?
